Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I’m excited to see all the new and returning Mustangs. It is an honor to be the principal of Murphy Ranch and I look forward to getting the school year underway. One of the pleasures of being at Murphy Ranch is getting to work with such a wonderful and dedicated staff.

We at Murphy Ranch are committed to creating a safe and caring atmosphere for all our students. We believe that all students can grow and increase their knowledge base. The purpose of school is to educate children and get them prepared for life after school. As a staff we are continually working and reflecting on how best to educate our brilliant students. While we take the education and well-being of our students seriously, we also believe that learning and school can be enjoyable and exciting.

Students excel at Murphy Ranch when there is a strong partnership of parents and the school. Both want to help our students reach their potential, which is accomplished when parents and teachers work together. I encourage you to regularly check on your student’s progress and contact your child’s teacher when you have questions or concerns. Have an ongoing dialogue with your child about what they are learning in the classroom and what is happening on the playground. Together we can ensure that Murphy Ranch students are developing as 21stcentury learners in the areas of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, creativity and community.

There are opportunities to become involved at Murphy Ranch. Joining and being part of the PTA is a great way to get involved. The PTA does so much for Murphy Ranch, they oversee events and projects to enrich the learning environment for our students. Volunteering in the classroom is another option. Speak with your child’s teacher about how you might be able to help in their classroom.

One of the keys for student success is consistent attendance. Please avoid being absent unless absolutely necessary. If your child is absent, either call the school attendance line at (562) 789-2155 to report the illness or send a note on your child’s first day back.

Welcome to Murphy Ranch and have a great school year!

Sincerely,

Tim Strand
